Get the jump on spring with Get the Jump on Spring 2020

Not so long ago, I was inspecting the white-topped spears of snowdrops (Galanthus) poking through the bare earth. Now most of those snowdrops are back sleeping under a blanket of snow. But spring IS on its wayMeteorological Spring is even closer!

Plus, this Saturday, Feb. 22nd, the Toronto Botanical Garden lets you think green thoughts at Get the Jump on Spring & Seedy Saturday.

Mason House Gardens always overflows with goodies for your garden, containers, or houseplant collection. If the year above is anything to go by, if it’s a hot plant for 2020, chances are they’ll have it.

Treat yourself to an unusual houseplant, talk to specialist plant societies, pick up a bargain garden book at the library sale, be inspired by a free talk (two to choose from every hour), or exchange heirloom seeds to try growing something new.

Look for Sarah and I, in the lobby this year, with another show special on the Toronto & Golden Horseshoe Gardener’s Journal with a bonus ebook version of our Source Book.

It was busy as bees when Sarah and I were there last year (and we’ll be back again) with our gardener’s journal. Meeting and talking to other exhibitors and seedy folk is always a learning experience. We took turns browsing around, but unfortunately couldn’t take advantage of the presentations. This year, the one I’d really, really like to see is Paul Zammit and Marjorie Mason talking about the gardens of England, Ireland and Wales – it’s sure to be glorious. Go in my place and tell me what you thought.

A great idea for anyone with backyard chicken envy! Just one of the cool exhibitors returning in 2020.

There are always surprises in this springy preview. Check the link at the beginning of this post for a full list of what to do and who to see. Parking is free for members of the Toronto Botanical Garden – another of many benefits of joining, if you haven’t already.

See you there?

  1. This looks like so much fun ! I would love to see some of those very different plantsand hear those speakers.
OMG ! … would that be a riot renting a chicken .. discounting the fact I have no place for one .. I would be afraid I would become attached to the little thing and couldn’t give it back ? LOL ..
Helen .. I left a note on the journal buying site for you .. thank you for trying to nudge me from beneath my rock for the fling ? LOL
