The first snowdrop sighting on our street actually happened on Saturday. But this picture, snapped yesterday, really shows the tenacious nature of these little guys. Even snow doesn’t stop them. Unless there’s a mile of it sitting on top.
Until neighbour M. transplanted a huge unwieldy shrub for me, I had one tiny patch of snowdrops that would push up their blooms as early as January. What welcome visitors they always are.
After the extremities of winter 2007/8 in Toronto, however, we’ve had to wait till the glaciers receded for their arrival, almost at the end of March. No wonder they are starting to veer away from calling it Global Warming for the more apt Climate Change.
